A special CHEERS for all the people, rides and places that hosted us over our trek through Patagonia! May our paths cross again some day very soon!
The Marble Caves of Puerto Rio Tranquilo are beautiful in photographs, but photographs do not do it justice! I’m not sure you can have just one favorite place in Patagonia, but this is high up on the list!
The confluence of the Baker and Nef rivers is as far south as went for this epic journey. It was well worth the extra two hours each way of hitchhiking to add this adventure under our belts!
Did you know that the Queulat National Park has a body of water called… LAGOON OF THE GNOMES!? Neither did we… Our plan was to check out the famed Enchanted Forest of Patagonia, but after seeing that on our map, we just HAD to make the trek to the top of the park through the pouring rain and hail!
There is no question why people say this is one of the top white water rivers in the world! Patagonia Elements is a rafting company that jibes with Ahab’s spirit of awesome adventure, taking him on his maiden Futaleufu voyage in style.
We arrived in Futaleufu a week before our rafting adventure to see all the town had to offer. We had no problem finding things to do and people to meet!
We had some paddling fun with Chris Spelius and Expeditions Chile while we were in Futaleufu.
We viewed more waterfalls in three hours than we have in our whole lives! What an epic ferry ride to start our trek into Patagonia!
Cascade de Las Animas is in the heart of San Alfonso, Chile. Here is our time around the campus over the last seven weeks. Patagonia, here we come!
The hike through the nature sanctuary to the waterfall, which is the namesake of where we are staying for the first half of our trek in Chile!
